Popcorn

We keep hearing about the dangers to our health from cell phones. Are the warnings really true or not? I'm not sure it has been proven one way or another at this point. Then we saw on the news a video from You Tube that your cell phone can pop popcorn from the microwaves that it emits. Since we had several cell phones in camp this week we decided to give it a try. First we set it up just like in the video and made the calls. The phones rang and rang, but the popcorn did not pop. So, we wondered if we had done something wrong and...
tried this set up. As soon as the 4 people placing the calls were sure the call went through they added their phones to the arrangement. Now we had a sending and receiving signal, but still no popcorn. Hmmm, maybe those two canceled each other out. All I know for sure is that we had some pretty nice cells phones at work, a lot of laughs, and no popcorn. Guess we proved this one to be false, but where are  Myth Busters when we need them?

Lobster Mania

It was another fun Memorial Day weekend at Keystone. It rained most of the time, but we did have a few sun breaks. The weather doesn't slow us down and we had great fun. This was also Lobster Mania weekend for us. The men like oysters, so they cooked them in the half shell on the BBQ. We have decided that we like the lobster cooked that way also. The boys had the oysters and us girls had lobster. I think we are the lucky ones as oysters really aren't for me. Some Caesar Salad, garlic bread, Famega white wine (If you haven't had it try it), and key lime pie made for a pretty delicious meal. Most people think we just cook hot dogs when we are out camping. Ah, not in this camp, we always cook some pretty exciting things, and we certainly never go hungry.

Shrimping

We had another wonderful time at Keystone. It was the last weekend of the season to go shrimping, and they had a great catch. They went out Friday and Saturday. We cleaned and bagged the shrimp in 1 pound bags. They are kind of prickly little things, but they sure are pretty and they taste delicious. We boiled some, similar to cooking crab, and stir fried some others with onions and yellow peppers. Mmmm, lucky us. We never seem to go hungry when we are out camping. The weather was partly sunny, no rain, but the cold wind that is so typical of there was blowing. We did get in a little walk on the beach.

Labor Day Weekend

Ron and I got to camp a day before everyone else. We took our bikes so we could ride around Crocket Lake. It's a nice ride of about 6 miles. We stopped at the block house so I could get a picture of us bikers. The weekend started out very nice. Notice that we are walking on the beach with no coats and that the water is very calm. It was beautiful!
Ah, but here is the next day. We are all bundled up and the wind is really blowing. The sun did pop out occasionally, but not for long. Oh, and look at the water now!

The waves were pounding on the beach and breaking over the cement on this light.
