What a Mess!

School is out and I am now retired. However, that doesn't seem to mean that I have no work to do. All the stuff from my classroom came home. This is my library. See all the books on the floor? See all the full bookshelves? Where am going to put the new books? Everyday I look at this and know I need to take care of it, and everyday I avoid doing it.This is the garage with more of my boxes that need to be put away. I have started on this. If you look above the cabinets you will see boxes. There is one for each month of school and they contain classroom decorations and materials for that month. I had them in my cupboards at school, so it was just a matter of bringing them home and putting them away. A pretty easy task. However, Ron wonders if I will ever get them down.

Here's the Goodwill pile. As I go through my school and home stuff the pile is getting bigger and bigger. Our Goodwill is doing a big remodel right now, so I am waiting for them to finish before I take my boxes in.

Jennie's Graduation

Jennie graduated from Western CUNA Management School this summer. It was a three year program that she attended at Pamona College in California. She spent 2 weeks at the college each summer and then had a big project to work on during the year. We are so proud of her as

she got High Honors on her culminating project and graduated with Honors. Way to go Jennie!

The day after graduation we went to Disneyland. We were only a few miles away and you never pass up an opportunity to go to Disneyland. It was VERY crowded, but we had a great time.

The Lion King

Ron and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary on February 22. The kids gave us a trip to Seattle and The Lion King. What an amazing time we had. We got to Seattle early so we could do some shopping after we checked into our hotel. We had a delicious dinner at P.F. Chang's and then it was off to The Paramount theater for "The Lion King". What a production. The puppets were incredible. We are still talking about how they were able to work some of them. On Sunday morning we went to Pike Place for Piroshky's and then to the original Starbucks for coffee. Of course we had to check out was new at the market. There are always lots of people and excitement there.

February Snow Day

We are having another beautiful snow day in Bellingham. It started snowing after lunch yesterday and was still snowing when we went to bed last night. We woke to sun and blue skies, but it's still very cold. My school and Ron's work were both closed for the day, so we are having a bonus day at home!

A Family Visit

Today we had a visit from my cousin Bill and his family. They like to come and see mom every few months and it is always great to see them.

This is my Auntie Dorothy. She came with Bill and Carolyn so she could visit with mom. She is sitting at the organ that used to be in her home and is now at Julie's . We remember listening to her play and sing when we were children. She always has songs and jokes to share. At 86 she still has lots of energy.

January Flooding

When Ten Mile Creek overflows it's banks the fields around my school look like this.This is the E Hemmi Road, just past my school. I often go home this way, but as you can see the road is closed due to flooding.
All the roads to our house have been closed because of the severe flooding. This is Hilldale Road. The water is running down Brownsville and crossing Hillsdale like a river. The road is closed, but they have set up lights so we can pass. It's the only way in and out at this time.

Amber works in the blue and white building. What looks like a river is usually a creek. If it comes up just a few more inches it will be flooding her work and that of others in the area. Fortunately for everyone the water has been going down the last few days.
