Park and Swap

Today we went to the Yuma Park and Swap. It's similar to the Arizona Market with some of the same things and some different. I think there are more clothes, toys, and garage sale type items here. This is a typical vendor selling tops, hats and lots of socks.
And talk about bras! This vendor has only bras and panties and lots of them in any color you could ever want.

Sheral with a pink bra.
Now, how about this sun top? You can find just about anything (unusual) at these markets.

Fun Factory

After seeing pictures of Ron's metal work Keith and Sheral said we HAD to go see the Yuma Fun Factory. It is a great mixture of dining and gaming. They have a restaurant as well as a snack bar. There is a gaming room, 2 miniature golf courses, go-kart track and bumper boat pond. It's a great place for kids as well as adults. We went to see the metal work that decorates the Fun Factory. Does Ron ever have ideas now. There are several walls decorated with metal art similar to this. Isn't it great? Be prepared, Ron is on the lookout for more rusted metal. They told us we had to see the bathrooms. Can you believe this? Wouldn't it be fun to have this in a guest bathroom?
This is part of the miniature golf course. We would have played, but we still had lots to do and wanted to get home to watch the US vs Canada hockey game.
The Fun Factory has a great view of the agricultural area of Yuma. This picture was taken from the 2nd miniature golf course. You can see the fields in the background.

Taco Feed

Today we went to the desert for a Taco Feed. We bought raffle tickets to help pay for the Tacos. Half the money goes to pay for the ingredients and the other half someone wins. Guess what? We won!!! Yup, we are $228.00 richer. This is the line for getting your shells and meat, and they add a big scoop of meat. Then we headed down the next line and added cheese, lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, sour cream and salsa. It was a great lunch. See the can at the end of the table? If you want, you can also put money in there to help pay for the meal. The Tacos are FREE, but I see most people were either buying tickets, putting money in the can, or both. Linda, Rosemary and Betty are enjoying their Tacos.
This is the area called the "Gravel Pit". As you can see the RV's are higher than this area. During the heavy rain the Gravel Pit was under water. Now it's all dry and lots of people were here enjoying the sunny day and Tacos.

Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to us! We celebrated our 41st wedding anniversary today. Wow! Keith and Sheral are our neighbors and they celebrated with us. We started with an anniversary toast at their house and then went out to dinner.
Here's the long time, not old, married couple at dinner. Ron is thinking this looks pretty good.
We had dinner at Famous Dave's. It's a great place to eat. We had the dinner for 2 and look at all the food we got. We had ribs, brisket, half a chicken, fries, corn bread and coleslaw. This only cost $19.99. What a deal.
Sheral is enjoying her ribs.
Keith and Sheral had a coupon for a FREE bread pudding dessert. Can you tell it is on a dinner size plate? That's whipped cream and ice cream beside it. Not only was it delicious, but there was enough for 4 for us. Mmmmmmm!
Keith and Sheral gave us a bottle of wine, 2 glasses and chocolate covered strawberries. That was so very nice of them and quite a nice treat for us. Thank you neighbors.

Craft Sale

They were having a craft sale in the park and the ladies wanted me to bring some things to sell. Well, since I didn't know about it until we got here, I had nothing to sell. I had some yarn left so decided to make a few more Quail potholders. I brought some yarn with me and also many of my patterns, so I got busy. The ladies at the desert campground loved the bassinet/purse and so I decided to make a few of those. Linda got my pattern and has made them for everyone in their desert camp as well as many to take home. She has been a busy lady. Of course I had my hat patterns, so got busy and made a few of those. I'm working on a bassinet/purse in this picture. I found the perfect size babies at WalMart. Here's the Quail Potholders again. I only sold one. I gave one to our neighbor as she really thought they were cute. I only sold 1 of the Bassinet/Purses. One lady remembered them being called a Church Purse as the little girls could take them to church as they were a quiet toy to play with during the service.
Here are my hats again and I didn't sell any. Look at the price, $10.00. I sold them for $20.00 at home and they were really good sellers. However, these are retired people and not the Fairhaven shoppers. There really weren't many people at the sale and I didn't see anyone buying anything either. I thought the bassinet/purse would be a good seller for the Grandmas to bring home for the granddaughters, but I was wrong on that one. The lady next to me didn't sell anything and I heard other people saying the same thing. At least I made enough to pay for the yarn I bought.

Sunshine!

Ron could hardly sleep last night as he was thinking about getting back on the tennis courts. They were closed last week as they were being resurfaced, They also got new nets. He thought they were pretty nice before as he is used to playing on the outdoor public courts at home. What a lucky boy he is. This is just what he came south for.The weather is getting warmer. We have had some days near 80 degrees. Yesterday was actually getting a little warm for me, but then it was probably poor planning on our part. We made a better choice today. No walk after lunch during the heat of the day, but a trip to the pool instead. It was perfect! Ron swims many laps and then spends some time in the hot tub hoping it might help his leg, which bothers him a lot. I swim a few laps and then float around on a "Noodle". It's pretty hard to see in this picture as it is blue. Ron gives me a bad time about this, but I don't just float. I do laps on my tummy and then switch to my back. I kick and use my arms. We seem to be the only people that really swim. Everyone else just floats and visits.
After dinner tonight we went for a bike ride around the park. It was dark, but the park is well lit. It was also still warm enough that we didn't need a jacket.

The Wizard of Oz

We went to see the "Wizard of Oz" presented by the Yuma Community Theater. Dorothy was very cute and did a great job. Here's Glinda the Good Witch. She actually came on stage floating in a bubble like in the movie. Well, it wasn't really a bubble, but a big hoop.
The Scarecrow was quite silly.
The Tin Man is still rusted in this picture. That's probably why I got an OK picture of him. He couldn't move!
Yes, the Wicked Witch really is flying. She was amazing!
Here they are at the gates of The Emerald City of Oz.
The Flying Monkeys were played by children and some of them also got to fly. I bet they thought that was pretty fun.
Dorothy saw Auntie Em and the Wicked Witch in the crystal ball. As always, Dorothy is back home with the people that really do love her.

Arizona Market

Today we went to The Arizona Market Place. It covers 40 acres and has over 1000 vendors. This is the left shopping area. You can see the roof section and then the tents on either side. The vendors are in the tents.
I turned to the right and took this picture. You can just barely see the roof and more tents over the cars. This place is huge!
You can find just about anything here from food, games, clothes, jewelry, purses, pet supplies, hardware, dollar store, kitchen items, quilt shop, RV supplies, yard art, paintings, T Shirts, bedding, sunglasses, travel agents, car polish and on and on. Just plan on spending a lot of time here looking around.
Everyday they have live entertainment in the food court. This gentleman is a Championship Yodeler. Unfortunately I didn't see his name. He sang some great Country songs with some yodeling thrown in.
