Jennie's Birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENNIE!
We had a great celebration for Jennie's XX birthday. She thinks she is getting soooo old, so I won't tell you the exact number. The evening started at our house with some yummy appetizers and Happy Birthday Martinis.

We weren't sure what the evening would bring, so we started with dessert first and had ice cream cake and a round of Happy Birthday Dear Jennie!
 Amanda, Jennie and Nicole
I think they loved the Happy Birthday Martinis
Next we were off to dinner at The Fork with wine, champagne, excellent food, and another round of Happy Birthday for Jennie!

But the evening wasn't over yet. We came back to our house for a few rounds of cards and a few more snacks. Hmmm, there might even have been some more Birthday Martinis.

Survivor Mud Run

June 18th was the Survivor Mud Run at Remlinger Farms in Carnation. Even the  name sounds cold, wet and hard. It's a 5 K obstacle course in the mud. Sounds like fun right? OK, this is not something I would do, but Jennie and her  friends did. They started out with such enthusiasm and looking so cute...
and ended up a muddy mess. I don't see as much enthusiasm now either. The course was quite hard and very muddy. At one point Jennie and Nicole got stuck in the mud up to their knees and couldn't move. Someone had to come and pull them out. Since this was an obstacle course they were crawling under ropes, over walls, through culverts and tires, climbing up cargo nets and over mounds. Ah, did I mention this was all in the MUD! When Jennie got home she took a nice long, hot shower. It took a lot of scrubbing to get the mud off. She was still getting it out of her finger and toe nails the next day. The girls are now much smarter and wiser and probably won't do this again. Girls and mud just don't go together.

Birthdays

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY AMBER AND JENNIFER Amber's birthday is really February 8th and Jennifer's is February 11th, but we were in Arizona at that time. So, we are celebrating them today. Amber invited us over for dinner, which I told her really wasn't fair as she was cooking her own birthday dinner. She was fine with that and made an amazing meal. I wish I had taken pictures of it as she did such a great job. I usually do take food pictures, but I think I was so distracted by all the little details that I forgot all about it. We had delicious hors doeuvres with these cute little toasts, humus and 3 types of cheese. Next came the salad, where she had a nice bowl of greens and then dish after dish after dish of salad toppings to add to our salads. It was very colorful and fun to create our own salads. Amber is good about using her cookbooks and the main course was a recipe from one of her favorites. It contained rigatoni, sausage, capers, tomatoes and a special sauce. Yummy! I am so proud of my girls and what they can do.

Happy Birthday Jennie

Happy Birthday to Jennie as she turns 35 today. She is a very busy young lady as she is currently the Mortgage Loan Manager for Salal Credit Union in Seattle. Yup, she really does work in Seattle and live in Bow. Fortunately she has a cozy place to stay in Seattle a few nights a week, so she doesn't have to make that drive every day. We are so proud of her as she has set some pretty high goals for herself and she is reaching them. We are lucky that we still get to see her almost every weekend, but unfortunately not on her birthday. However, she is flying to Yuma to spend some time with us. We look forward to seeing her in a just a few days!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENNIE!

Seattle Lunch

We went to Seattle today to have lunch with Jennie. We started with a stop at her office as we had not been there before. Well, I have been there, just not inside. I was with her when she went for her interview, but I waited in the car. For those of you that don't know, Jennie is now the Mortgage Loan Manager for Salal (formerly Group Health Credit Union) in Seattle. How would you like an office with a view like this? Jennie says on sunny days it can be a little distracting as she watches the activity on Lake Union. If she looks to the left she can see Gas Works Park. Here's our friend Cathie with Jennie. They have known each other for several years and Cathie has wanted to go to Seattle and have lunch together. Today was the day! We had a great visit and a delicious lunch at McCormick and Schmick.
