Coming Home

Coming home!!!
These are the pictures taken in the hospital just before Brayden came home. Such a bright eyed little guy he is. Looks like he doesn't want to miss any of this amazing experience.
 He already loves his Daddy...

 and his Mommy!
It's now time for this new family to head home and start their life together.

Brayden's Birth

The time for delivery has arrived. Everyone loved the shirt that Jerad chose to wear for this amazing event. The nurses wished they all had them. All in all I think everyone was very relaxed.

Here's Amber's support team. Her cousin Jodie will be finishing her nursing school in June, husband Jerad offered the relaxing support, and her friend Misty is a nurse. The bases were covered and what a great job these guys did. Jennifer and I rounded out the team, but we must have just been there for moral support and to be the "gophers".
Brayden Douglas was born on Thursday, January 26th at 4:53 PM. He weighed 7 lbs 9 oz, was 20 inches long, and as cute and cute can be. I was surprised that he popped out with his eyes wide open and was so alert. One of the first things he did was reach over and grab his daddy's finger. Talk about a proud daddy! It was love at first sight.

Brayden was a trouper as they fused with him to get all the information they need on a newborn. Here he is with Dr. Jessica Bloom as she gives him his first once over. Guess what, he was PERFECT!!!! Jessica was amazing through the delivery. Amber is very lucky to have such a great doctor.
New mommy, new daddy and new baby!!!

And here are Will and Jennifer the very excited new Auntie and Uncle.
I don't think he could be any more adorable. We are so lucky!

Interesting Weather

I wish now that I had listened more closely when Jeff Renner, our King 5 weatherman, was explaining what was happening with the weather. Below are 2 pictures. The one on the left was taken on January 18 during "The Big Snow". Everything is covered with snow. Now look at the picture on the right which was taken 2 days later when it was starting to warm up just a little. Notice the hill in the background has lost most of it's snow. Typically we see that hill covered with snow and no snow down at lake level. Jeff Renner was talking about the air above being warmer than the air at ground level and I think this is what caused the freezing rain  in some areas. This is where I should have been paying better attention, but how was I to know that the next day I would have such a good example of what he was talking about. Interesting weather for sure.

January Snow

Snow, Snow, Snow, what a great way to start the New Year!

It started with just a few flurries.
The girls had planned on walking the trail at the end of the road. They decided a little snow would just add to the fun. So, off they went.
Jennifer, Nicole, Jodie, Amber with her baby bump, and Amanda
They figured it would be cold, so they planned a stop at our house for hot chocolate on their way home. Was it cold? Oh yes, very much so. Not only were they cold, but wet, wet, wet. I had just taken a coffee cake out of the oven so Jennie literally sat on the oven door to try and warm up. Jodie is making a hot cocoa to take with her as she heads to the fireplace to get some heat.

As the hours go by the snow just keeps piling up.
Here's a before and after picture.

This is Ron's rebar tree. He thought it looked pretty nice with it's coat of white.
Looking out our living room windows.

Yup, 10 inches and still snowing, though they are saying it is going to stop by tomorrow.
Looking out the back of our house.
