Halloweeeeeeen!

Kids don't come to our house to Trick or Treat, so we spent Halloween Night at Amber and Jerad's. We brought some fresh fish, that we brought back from Idaho, and Amber made a Spicy Fish Chowder. It was soooooo good.

Rylie was the first to Trick or Treat at Amber's. She was a little monkey and had a fun time going "Ooooooo" .
Mmmmm, she really liked the candy.
Lizzy, Amber and Jerad's Goddaughter, came a little later in the evening, but she was still full of smiles.

Lizzy likes to come to Amber and Jerad's to see them and play with their toys. I brought the Fisher Price Little People Haunted House for this spooky night. She and Jerad were having fun playing with it.

Happy Birthday Rylie!

Happy Birthday to Rylie!!!
Rylie turned 2 on October 30th and she had a wonderful day. Her Maama (Grandma Julie) had taken her to Amber's one day and she spotted the baby doll in the cradle that Amber has. She was so excited about it that Julie knew then what she was giving her for her birthday. As you can see she right away knew to put the baby in the cradle and give it a bottle. Soooo cute!
Auntie Jodie made the doggie cake and it was so good. It was a pound cake with part white and part chocolate cake. Mmmmmmm.
Her Auntie Jodie and Uncle Luke gave her the kitchen. Oh, did she have fun putting the food in the frig and the dishes on the shelves. She tried to eat some of the plastic food, but quickly found out that it wasn't for eating.Jennie gave her a set of play dough and tools. Rylie was so interested in everything. Each gift she opened she had to play with for awhile. Needless to say it took us awhile. We opened gifts, played, opened gifts, took a break and had cake, opened another gift, played with it for awhile and then moved on. It was quite fun and Rylie enjoyed everything about her party.

What a Trip

The boys leave for fishing at 6AM every morning. Here Ron is just as the sun is coming up.
Amy went fishing with the boys a couple times. Besides having a great time she was able to get some boat pictures. The boys are always to busy fishing to take pictures, so lucky for us we have Amy to go along with them.
Ron, Norm and David are pretty happy about this fishing trip.
Ron is running the boat to the next hole they are going to fish.
We love Idaho at this time of the year. The weather is still warm and the colors are beautiful. We have been fishing here since 1990 and this was the best fishing ever. We used to come for a week and that was never enough. One week turned into 2 and now it is 3 and it still is not long enough. This year we came a week early so Norm and Ron could fish "Catch and Release" before the season opened. Their first day out they caught around 40 fish. They said that was the one best day fishing for them ever. Of course once the season opened the fish seemed to know it and their daily numbers went down. Dave and Amy arrived a few day after opening day, so that gave them "another pole in the water" as they say. All in all this whole trip was their best fishing in this area. They caught around 200 steelhead and salmon, mostly steelhead. They can't keep the salmon and they can't keep native fish. The fun is in the catching and not the keeping, so between the 3 families we only brought home around 30 of the fish they caught. That's enough for some nice dinners, with some to smoke and some to share.

David and Abby

David and Amy brought their dog Abby with them. She is a very good dog and loves attention. Amy walks her in the morning, and then she patiently waits for David to come home as he takes her for a run up in the hills. She is so happy to get out and run. I caught this picture of them one evening just before dinner.

The boys are having a great time fishing. They have big smiles, as they are catching fish everyday. Here's Norm, Ron and David with a sampling of their catch.

Geocaching

I had walked by this cache and never knew it was there. For some reason it didn't show up on my phone the first few times I was checking for "caches near by". It was called "Reading the River Too!" I'm telling you, these cachers are very clever. It was a reading cache and the person who put it here is an avid reader. You can leave a book and take another to read. They also said to just take a book as they read so much that they will always be adding new books. However, there were only 3 books in the container the day I found it and I really didn't want any of them. But, it was a fun idea! It's always fun to do a little geocaching while we are out and about. This one I found buried in the leaves between a couple trees. There is a cache here, but I'm not going to tell you where. I don't want to spoil the fun for others who might be looking. The idea is to hide them so they are not obvious. Geocachers don't want muggles (non geocachers) to find them.

I looked quite awhile for this cache and just couldn't find it. I had a feeling it was a fake rock, but also thought that it would be fairly large as stuff was hidden in it. I turned over every BIG rock I could find. Still no luck. So, I decided to go again and take some extra eyes along with me. Ron, David and Amy were good sports and joined in the hunt. I gave them some clues and off we went. Again, we looked and looked and weren't having much luck. Amy finally turned over this LITTLE rock and surprise, there was the find! See the larger rock to the right? I turned that one over, but ignored the smaller one you see in my hand. When we lifted up the small rock there was a container buried in the ground that contained the cache. What a tough find this was!

Halloween Decorations

Here's our Halloween tree decorated with it's plastic garbage bag ghosts. Sometimes you just have to use the materials you have. There are little orange lights on it, but they are hard to see. I didn't get a very good picture unless I used the flash and that spoils all the lights. I'll just have to try again tonight. I made this table runner last year, so I may have posted it before. Sorry if I did.

These are the Halloween schirenschnitte that I made last year. I know I posted them, but they are fun to see again.
I made the ghost last year and added the pumpkin and candy corn this year. They are called "amigurumis", which in Japan means a small doll or toy.
When Julie and I went on the Shop Hop last spring I found a pattern for making yoyo trees. We usually think of trees for Christmas, but they are fun for any season. Sooooo, I made a Halloween tree. You can see the yoyo makers in the center of the picture. I made 4 different sized yoyos and then stacked them up on the doweling.
Here's the completed Halloween yoyo tree. Besides being pretty cute it was a good way for me to use up some of my scrap fabric from quilting.

River Walk

Ron and I took a walk along the Snake River. I had taken the trail before, but this was Ron's first time. I wanted him to see the columnar basalt that is amazing. Here Ron is getting his first look at the formations.

They are quite spectacular.

Sometimes the trail was pretty overgrown. We found out later that they are going to close this part of the trail.
Then the trail got even worse. We really wanted to see the petroglyphs, so on we went, only to find the area fenced off. We later found out that they had been vandalized, so the fence was put up to keep people out. So, we missed the petroglyphs again this year, but we did have a nice 6 mile hike along the river.
