Jennie came to Yuma for a visit and to see what the retired people do every day. I think she was quite surprised to see that there is a lot of activity going on here and very little sitting. She said it was like hanging out with a bunch of college kids only 50 years later. We kept her pretty busy while she was here, and told her that the days were pretty typical of how we spend our time. I think we wore her out as she was ready for bed every night. She arrived at 11:45 PM, so it was after midnight before she got to bed. Ron had her up and playing tennis bright and early the next morning. 
They were predicting rain, so as long as we had sun today we went to the pool after lunch. How could I have forgotten my camera? After dinner Bill and Thelma joined us for a game of shuffleboard. Bill is the champ, so he said he would help Jennie. I wanted her to give it a try. They put wax on the pads, so you barely touch the disks and they go sailing.
The next day we went to the craft sale in the park and then headed to Algadones, Mexico. Jennie wasn't to sure about making this trip, but soon found that is was quite fun. There were so many people walking along with us that she said she felt like she was in line at Disneyland.
The stores have been taken over by dentists, doctors and optometrists. There are hundreds of dentists in this small town. All the vendors have moved to the streets. It's like walking through a tunnel of merchandise. Jennie couldn't believe all the stuff there was to look at. It's a shopping overload!
We saw a long line forming and realized it was people waiting for fish tacos. It was a little early for lunch, but we decided to give them a try. Oh, there were actually fish and shrimp tacos, so we tried them both. Mmmm, they hit the spot!
Jennifer was quite amazed at these prices, so we had to take a picture of them. Some are a little hard to read, but they say: Hair Cut Men's $4.00, Manicure ?, Hair Tint $18.00, ? $5.00 Tops, Pedicure $12.00, High Lights $18.00, Perms $16.00, Hair Cut Women $5.00. Don't you wish we had these prices at home?
We finished the day off with a Skype with Amber.
The next day there was rain, so we decided to go to the markets. Turned out the rain was short lived and the sun came out around noon. On the way from what we call the Mervyn's Market to Old Town Yuma we passed by a cemetery. We took some time to take a few pictures. 
Next we were off to the Arizona Market. Jennie was impressed with how many things there were to look at. She thought Mexico had a lot, then she saw the markets. She couldn't believe the rows and rows of booths filled with things. She had a great time looking at beads.

Hmm, I wish I could remember the name of this piece of material. It is made up of 2 layers of fabric and looks like it would be a wrap around skirt. However, it can be worn in hundreds of different ways. We thought this one shoulder dress was pretty cute. Of course the guy helping her was pretty good at all the styles. When we got home we tried a few, but weren't very successful. Jennie thinks it might end up as a swimsuit cover up and not a dress.
On Sunday we headed out to see the people camping on the desert. On the way we stopped at this cute little church that a farmer built for his wife.
We also passed the Yuma Proving Grounds as we were getting closer to the camping area. This base is where they test all equipment that will be used by the military. It must pass the tests or it will not be issued to our military personnel.
Of course we had to stop so Jennie could see the "Liberry". Inside the sign says this is a lending liberry and not a taking liberry. You can take books to read, but they want you to bring them back so others can also read them. If you bring books from home, and don't want them after you read them, you can also leave them in the "Liberry" and they will be shelved and shared.
Jennie is checking out the books. We are not borrowing any today, just looking.
At this point Jennie should be on her way home. However, as her plane was taxing to the runway they found a problem with one of the engines and returned to the terminal. She was hoping she would get bumped so she could stay a few days longer. Well, she got her wish. Since she only had 30 minutes to make her Seattle connection in Phoenix she soon realized there was no way she was going to make it. The next time they could get her tickets was for Wednesday. Oh, to bad she gets to stay a few days longer!!! :-)Tuesday was our anniversary. This was one of Jennie's bonus days and there were several things we thought of doing, but ended up just staying home. Since we had sunshine we did spend some time in the pool and I once again forgot my camera.
Tonight we went out to dinner with some friends to celebrate our anniversary. Jennie was able to join us, which was great fun.
Jennie did get on her flight on Wednesday morning. It was great having her here and I think she had a good time. It will be pretty quiet now that she is gone.
