Little Dresses for Africa

Little Dresses for Africa is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide relief to children in Africa. People from all over the United States are gathering to make dresses out of simple patterns to be sent to the orphanages and Kids Camps in Africa. Many ladies from Rancho Rialto have gotten together this winter to sew dresses for the organization. On last count we had about 170 dresses and more were coming in.
Francis is putting the finishing trim on a dress. The 2 ladies in the background brought in about 25 dresses on this day...
They are quilters and got very creative with some of their dresses.

The material for these dresses was donated by Grandma Jo's quilt shop. It was perfect for the dresses as it's light weight and washes beautifully.
I decided to try my hand a making a dress. It's such a simple pattern that they go together very quickly.
We received word that they need some smaller sizes, so I made mine about a size 2. Pretty cute, huh? They also said they could use some "Britches for Boys", so one of our ladies made a pattern
and we now have several pairs of shorts to add to the dresses. To learn more about "Little Dresses for Africa" you can visit their web site at: http://www.littledressesforafrica.org/
